Covenant and Congregational Vision

September in Tahlequah means Welcome Back
Sunday Service, September 5, 2010 ~ Rev. Jim Eller
Sept. 5 – Jim Eller - "Home Coming, Turning and Returning."  I have always thought of Labor Day as the end of summer and the beginning of fall.  School starts again, and for Tahlequah the Cherokee Nation is having their annual National Holiday, as many will travel from all over the country to be "home again."  What does it mean to come home again, to our community and to ourselves?

10am - The adult forum downstairs Free coffee.

Every Monday - Tai Chi class, 5:30p main sanctuary

The Sunday breakfast fundraisers have been suspended for the summer months. Adult forum commences promptly at 10:00am. Fresh coffee and free friends await you.

Minister’s Office Hours: UUCT is pleased to share Rev. Doug Inhofe’s office hours:
My Wednesday office hours have changed.  I will now be at the church two days a week, on both Tuesdays and Thursdays from 1-3 P.M.  If you want to meet with me then, or if you know of someone who needs help or a visit, please give me a call or send me an email and let me know.  Thanks!!!
September 12 ~ Water Communion
Rev. Doug Inhofe
Each year UUCT celebrates our return from all the places we have been with our family, though space, and in our hearts. We bring our own Water of Life to the Sunday service to share the things we have experienced and our reflections from life. Bring water from someplace special, or some will be available.

The C.A.R.E. Food Pantry continues to be a stable food source for Cherokee County residents. The $5,000 grant received from Wal-Mart is providing funds necessary to purchase the food items not furnished by the Tulsa Regional Food Bank. Individual people as well as businesses in our community are very generous with food donations as well as monetary support. Please call 458-5338 if you would like to donate.

September 16, 2010 "Face-to-Face Forum Series"
The following advertisement will appear in many locations and media outlets, including KWGS, the University of Tulsa’s NPR affiliate station, and, it is hoped by the committee planning the event (and everyone else, we imagine!), that it will urge you, in turn, to share its message with others, to encourage them to come, and to be there yourself!!!  Rich is a great speaker, very interesting, and his presentation will be more than worth the time!
Our October speaker will be The Hon. Sam A. Joyner, recently retired U. S. Magistrate Judge, from Oklahoma ’s Northern District, in Tulsa , who will speak on issues involving feminism.  More to come on that!

**Committee On Ministry - The Committee On Ministry is a liaison between the congregation and the minister.  Right now, the committee members are Tom Newton, Brun Imberg, and myself, Jacque Linebarger. We will be meeting with Doug every four to six weeks to provide feedback from the congregation about his ministry with UUCT, including suggestions for sermon topics, communication with members, outreach, programs at UUCT, and just generally how things are going.  If you have any suggestions or comments that you would like the committee to bring up to Doug at our meetings, please feel free to contact any of the committee
members or Doug.  We are currently looking for one or two additional members.  If you are interested in  joining the committee, please give me a call at 458-5887 or email me at linebarg@ipa.net.

Plans for an elementary level R. E. program are coming together.  I need some help, however.  Is there anyone who is interested in working with children in grades l through 6?  I need a co-worker to share this responsibility.  Please contact me, Marnie Cope, at 458-0225 or at marniecope@yahoo.com.  Also we need to cozy up the R. E. room  and make it inviting for kids.  We could use donations of a rug and some floor pillows or bean bag chairs.  If you have anything that would help me to put this room together, I appreciate it very much.  Thank you!
